Okay today I saw Leave it to Beaver again.............Well...........
June was making Bacon and eggs for breakfast and she had her dress on and her early morning pearls and no apron and I thought What???? ![]() There's no way I would wear a dress on with my pearls and be making bacon. ![]() |

ME NEITHER!!! I wouldn't be caught dead making bacon in a dress!!!! And what about when she vacuums and cleans house in a dress and heels? I know women were much more concerned with their appearance back then than they are today, but I wonder how many women in the 50s and 60s actually did housework in a dress and heels? Or how many were completely dressed and ready, makeup and all, at 7 something in the morning to cook breakfast? I bet their weren't many! But oh well, June wouldn't be June without these things, would she?

My mother is a classic example. I never saw my mother in high heels, pearls and a dress making bacon. (I don't blame her). She did wear her Moo Moo (Can't spell the word) though...........

I grew up in the 50's and 60's. My mother always wore a dress, but she had her cotton "house dresses" for everyday wear and cleaning and stuff. She never wore jewelry or make up around the house though. But when she went out in public she would dress up more. I remember probably around the mid-sixties my mother started wearing pants occasionally or "peddle pushers" (today you would call them capris)
But how things can change.......today my mother wears pants all the time.......I can't remember the last time I saw her in a dress. |
