Hello Everyone,
As many of you may know, on August 21, 2021, Don Everly, age 84, the last surviving member of The Everly Brothers, died at his Nashville, Tennessee home. In both Brothers' memory, yours truly, Steve Arino, is proud to present "The Everly Brothers: The E! True Hollywood Story." The story began with their late daddy Ike (who died in 1973 of Black Lung Disease), who worked in the Kentucky Oil Fields and was an aspiring Musician. It was in Brownie, Kentucky that Isaac Donald "Don" Everly was born on February 1, 1937, followed by Phillip Jason "Phil" Everly 2 years later on January 19, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois; soon after Phil was born, Ike and the Brothers' Mother, Margaret (who survived both her boys and is currently age 102), relocated themselves and their boys to Shenandoah, Iowa, where the Brothers grew up. Most of their early hits such as "Bye Bye Love," "All I Have to Do is Dream," and "Take a Message to Mary" were written by the husband-and-wife due of Feliz and Boudleaux Bryant; they eventually started writing their own songs. Some of the Everlys' compositions, including hits, were "Cathy's Clown," "When Will I Be Loved" and "It's All Over." The hits during the '50s & '60s kept coming until they both voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Their final hit was issued in 1967, and 6 years later, after a performance at Knotts Berry Farm, The Everly Brothers acrimoneously disbanded, and in a decade-long period over the next 10 years spoke to each other just once, at their late daddy Ike's funeral soon after their disbandment. In 1983, the Everly Brothers reunited for a reunion album called EB84, which culminated in a subsequent reunion tour; a second reunion album, Born Yesterday, was issued in 1986 and featured the album's title track. In the 7 years since Phil died, Don admittedly would say "Good Morning" to Phil's ashes--a ritual continuing until his own death yesterday at age 84. As of this writing, Don Everly's cause of death is yet to be revealed, but regardless, Don's passing marks the official end of The Everly Brothers. |
