It's hard for me to criticize my favorite show but hey, let's admit it: not every segment sends chills down your spine!
There have been times when it seemed like the producers were at a stretch to come up with something viable and instead only offered us some "filler" material. Me personally, I don't like the ghost stories too much. Very hard to prove (you rarely get an update), and most aren't really too scary. Which would bring me to my least favorite Unsolved segment: The house in Florida that supposedly haunted the kid and his teenage bride. You remember it...he was watching tv and all of a sudden his wife "attacked" him in bed. Remember how the parents put salt around the house? I don't think even Robert Stack bought this one, his tone was somewhat humorous, talking about only some snails were exorcised by the salt. Maybe it was run as comic relief, I don't know. But in my opinion it is the all-time worst segment ever run on UM. What's yours? |

i wonder why my grandfather is not on the very first unsolved mystery? ummm if i remember it it was very tramatic!!! ...especially when i blew him in ...........why is he not listed on any of these websites to let other people know it is ok to tell??? just a question/ he was on the very 1st but not the first captured it was someguy from las vegas. it makes me angry that i cant find him anywhere after the horrible crime he committed. not only on poor Elenor but on his grandchildren. ( why is this undercover)? America's most wanted are proud to tell you the first capture. maybe my dad has more money than unsolved mysteries lol

For me, it had to be the woman who claimed to go into trances and. .sweated gold leafs! The whole thing depended on some videotape which[to me] appeared to be badly edited and even her own son refused to fully identify himself when interviewed. That's one time I wish the producers had told them to take their sideshow act elsewhere!

I've never been a fan of the reincarnation and afterlife segments.

There are many of these. To me, most (not all, but most) of the LOST LOVES segments are really boring and even in the past when this would come on as the least segment I would just turn off thr program.
There were a few others that were bad too, but I would say most of them revolved around the lost loves guideline. |

I would say the story on the Grand Duchess Anastasia. It was a very interesting story and well-produced. I would say it's not among my favorites because of the way it turned out. The woman was a complete fraud. If the tests were available beforehand, they probably could have tested her DNA. I don't know what year the DNA testing was first available.

I always thought that first story mentioned in this thread about "the bride attacking her husband on the bed while they were watching tv" was kinda funny. At one point in the segment, Robert Stack says something like, "Bill had always believed in ghosts, but the rest of the family POO-POOED that idea." Just hearing him say "poo-pooed" makes it all worth it. I couldnt stop laughing!

But anyway, I'm not really a big fan of those ghost stories. I find them kind of hard to believe at times, however it still leaves me hanging, in a sense. All in all, I think every segment have their up and downs. |

I can't stand lost love episodes, either, excpet for when they're about missing Vietnam or WWII soldiers. Those are always compelling. And to think that it's been reported that a whopping 2 out of 3 family reunions wind up sour, who needs them! UM also plays that heartwrenching music during the updates that tries to manipulative us into crying.
The only lost love episode I really liked was the one about the Canadian boy Clifford who's been missing for 40+ years. His now-elderly mother thinks the father kidnapped him, but the boy didn't resurface even after the father died. They just played that one about two weeks ago, and I was praying that there would be an update. It broke my heart when I heard those dreaded words by Robert Stack (You know... "If you have any information...."). I'm so happy that the new Lifetime episodes focus more on criminal mysteries and less on paranormal goobley-gook, too (for the same reasons others have mentioned, I don't like them, either). |

I hate to admit it but I'm a sucker for some of the lost love stories. Not really the parental abduction ones, but the ones where someone who touched someone's life is missing and then found.
I think my favorite is the one from Oklahoma where the 3 brothers and 1 sister were re-united. It was run pretty early in the show's history. Anyway, this is a cool thread, I hope the people at Unsolved get the message...we want less paranormal and more solveable criminal cases. |

The only segments that couldn't really hold my interest were the lost loves.. They did way too many of these. I mean, they were a nice gesture, but not really all that entertaining.. I must admit, I always enjoyed the ghost stories and other unexplained segments.. I was fairly young when the show started, and the first time I saw the story that dealt with the Queen Mary......
As for worst all time story.. it actually wasn't a lost love, but dealt with a little boy sending a message in a bottle.. They traced all the steps and courses the bottle must have taken..yawn.. |
