I think that this was one of the major contributions that Unsolved Mysteries gave to society was to show how easy you can get put in jail for something that you didn't do. I have nothing but the upmost respect for law enforcement but my god the way that they screwed over so many folks on some of the Unsolved Mysteries segments was horrible.

Oh it did. I respect the LE around my part of MI, too. However, I now know that if I get pulled over and they want to search my car, I say no w/o a warrant. If for any reason at all, I'm arrested or in questioning, if I even suspect something is off, get an attorney IMMEDIATELY.

I've learned there's more laziness and incompetence within law enforcement than I thought.

The Johnny Lee Wilson segment was pretty infuriating in how the police had a narrative (despite witness statements disproving it) and they were going to stick with it, break protocol and force him into a confession no matter what. Never mind the fact that Wilson's mental capacity kept him from understanding the majority of their conversations.

This is the case that instantly came to mind when I saw the thread. I also think of rolando Cruz who was close to being executed for a crime that he didn’t commit. I don’t remember the details in that case, but it seemed like there were poor procedures. Also bird road rapist, jaclyn dowaliby, and Michael Martin. Cases that were build almost solely on sketchy and even fraudulent eye witness testimony. It’s ridiculous how one side can use ridiculous arguments to justify their case.
