Sad 3 months after his death. Remembering Carroll O'Connor

A few moments of reflection after three months:

Not only was he a great actor, but he was a fine human being.

Look at the fight he put up for his son, after that tragic death. In many ways Carol died when his son died. You could see the pain every time he spoke. But he fought to bring to justice the scumbags that contributed to the death.

And as an actor, his body of work speaks for itself.

He was outstanding. He made us laugh. He made us think. He made us cry.

We will never forget you Carol.

I can't believe its only been 3 months, it seems like its been a year.

Carroll is one of my favorite actors of all time. He had a unique quality to him- he could make you laugh one minute and cry the next.

My example with laughing could be any episode of All in the Family. The episode where I cried the most and the one I think show cased Carroll O' Connor's talent was the episode where Gloria, Mike, and Joey leave for California.

I would like to find one person that did not cry when they saw Archie Bunker cry. I seriosly doubt that you could find a person that didn't cry during that episode. Another episode that showcased Carroll's acting ability was the episode where Archie, Edith, and Stephanie go to California for Christmas. They find out that Gloria and Mike had separated. Who could possibly forget when Archie said to Mike, after he finds out that Gloria had been cheating on Mike "I was wrong. I thought she was too good for you, but you're too good for her." I'm sorry that isn't the exact quote, but its close enough to it.

Carroll O' Connor, you were one hell of actor and will always live in the hearts of every fan. RIP Carroll

Tim McGraw

Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?

Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.

Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.

Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

[Eddie and Lumpy suppress laughter]

Carol was a versatile actor. All in the family was his true showcase, but if you watch In the Heat of the Night you see how versatile he really was. He could be very funny of course, but he could be intense, sensitive, passionate, passive, angry, etc.
and always believable.

He was a great talent.

We do miss you Archie!

It's hard to believe that Carroll O'Connor is really deceased, but his memory will always be alive. You can't forget Archie Bunker, he really played that role.

Rest in Peace, Carroll.
May GOD Bless you.

This is the one I thought could choke someone up easily as well. Same episode, same scene but moments later:

Gloria says to Archie (while it's just those two in the room, Archie heading towards the door.. ) "Daddy... I Love You."

Archie is touched by that remark, realizing it's not just his daughter who was caught cheating on Mike, but it's his 'little girl' and she always will be, and to abandon her in any moment would be wrong. I guess I'm fond of this one, as I've seen this done with one of my sisters, though different circumstances.

Yup. And I really liked his character, as short as the scenes were, in the movie "Kelly's Hero's", where he played the arogant, overweight, cigar-smoking general in France during WWII.
