Firstly, the vast majority of people who control estates have zero desire to deal with the public. Secondly, you're assuming they even know anything about this show, which they may not have any idea as to what it is. Thirdly, I have had luck with getting material out of vaults but it had to do with contacting the stars and helping them to get copies of their shows when they didn't have them. That isn't the case here. Fourthly, unless you are making a monetary offer or a deal for a commercial release, I'm sure they would have no interest. Maybe if you offered them 50K for it, you might maybe get their attention. Finally, did it occur to you that it was Jackie and Art's wishes that the show never been seen? Danny Thomas didn't want the first 3 seasons of Make Room For Daddy to be seen again and when his offspring were asked about it when the show was sold to COZI, they allowed seasons 4, 10 and 11, which had never been syndicated to be sold but they respected their father's wishes and kept the first 3 seasons buried.“

Now, I wasn’t going to ask them if they give me a copy. Matter of fact, I was nervous about contacting them As far as Art wishing the show will never be see, I did Faceboook messenged Brian Carney and he said that if he got a copy, he will let me know. He was nice in his response. The Jackie Gleason Show January 17, 1970 is available but the sketch is missing and in its place is footage from a previous episode.“

Him:

Well there's your method, right in your note. Contact Brian Carney and ask if he would be interested in a copy and then contact the Gleasons ON HIS BEHALF and say you spoke with him and he told you that you could pursue it for him.”

That is what I did. Care to take a guess how that went?

Me:
“Hey just checking in. I’m still looking for The Incredible World of Ed Norton. I did make that suggestion that I contact the Gleason estate via Brian Carney’s behalf but I could only do it via text message. I did that last December. No response.”

Him:

“From what I was told, it doesn't exist.”

I replied to him and said that Phil Gries of atvaudio.com had the audio of the sketch but it got messed up permanently. This is what he said:

Okay, I've been collecting TV shows for over 40 years and records for over 50. I can't count the number of people who have told stories like that, about how they had something and this or that happened to it. Like a Patty Duke guy who claimed he had her unreleased single but traded or some such nonsense. I take stories like that with a grain of salt.”

I DID get the contact info of relatives of the writers who worked on that episode. I’m cautious about contacting them through phone conversations.
