During these trying times, the same boredom that causes me to visits sites like this on a daily basis causes me to read books like "The Way we all Became the Brady Bunch" I thought this book was a pretty good read. I would be very interested in hearing from anyone else who has read it. By reading this book, I learned a lot about the man who created the show and help that he got from various family members. The book also mentioned other writers, producers and directors who were involved in various episodes of the "Brady Bunch". However, one person who did not get any mention anywhere in the book is the late Larry Rhine. I am a little bit surprised given the amount of involvement he had in creating several of the episodes. It will take another paragraph for me to explain why I am telling you guys about it.
On a bunch of occasions, I have written about my fondness for the late Hazel Shermet. Well, like many women in the media, she kept her maiden name after she got married. Her husband was Larry Rhine. For those of you who might not know, she made three appearances on "Gimme a Break!". Her second appearance was on the first-season episode called the "Emergency'. In this episode, the character that she played was credited as "Mrs. Larry Rhine" after her real life husband. Larry was involved in producing and directing episodes of a lot of different shows, the "Brady Bunch" being one of them. This is why I was surprised that he was not mentioned in the book. |
