I like the whole cast but im a big fan of Carrol O Connor as Archie.

Archie is my favorite character, not just because he is hilarious, but because he is so REAL to me... in fact, he bears an EERIE resemblance to my grandfather, who was born in 1923 in Chicago. He and Archie are around the same age and have the same economic background (except that my grandfather is a JEWISH bigot!). They also have the same "winning" personality, similar accent and vocabulary, and both "pretend" to be mean old men and not let the world know the truth: that deep inside they really love their families and friends and have HUGE hearts!

It's a close tie between Archie and Edith, but I'd have to say Archie. How can you not love those facial expressions? He also reminds me of my grandfather, and we always called my grandfather, "Archie". I think the top 3 sitcom characters of all time are
1. Archie
2. Edith
3. Lucy

No one has made me laugh more than Carroll O'Connor, Jean Stapleton and Lucille Ball.

it's more of an ensemble comedy to me, kinda like you end up liking all the charcters and i like them all.
