Default Who the hell is this - Olivia Rodrigo

On the ride home, one of her songs was playing on the radio and I turned it off IMMEDIATELY. LOL. She sounds like she inhaled helium. And how does caterwauling sh*t like this manages to get on the radio?

Blast that out loud at a nursing home and you’re sending everybody into cardiac arrest.

Whoever that is, I never heard of her. From what you said, she sounds awful. Is it "music" for the younger crowd? I'll be 50 in a few months and can't stand and don't know much about today's "music."

Are you certain that it wasn't a Geico commercial?

Oh I’m CERTAIN. I’d take that commercial over that piece of sh*t song anyday.

I’m sure she appeals to “younger audience” that can still stunt their growth. Believe me, she’s awful. You listen to an entirety of one of her songs, and you’re committing suicide. Had to turn that sh*t off, I don’t know if she was dying, choking, or what, but she sounded HORRENDOUS. You die a little inside knowing that crap like this actually PASSES as music today in the music industry.

I listened to a couple of her tunes over on Youtube.

I think it's safe to assume that it was not her musical talent that earned her an audition.

That “Good 4 U” song drives me CRAZY. I can totally see her parents jamming to the song while the rest of the family members are trying to downplay it, for Olivia’s sake, when inside they’re trying to stomach in the torture.

If you listened to one of those clips you wouldn't say it was music.

I never heard of her either but I'm sure the point of this thread is that yesterday (or the day before) she was invited to the White House to tell all the 'young people' to get their vaccines. Unfortunately people seem to not listen to knowledgeable people when it comes to this. And before the usual suspects begin to crow about Trump, keep in mind it was Donald Trump that facilitated the incredibly fast research that developed the vaccines and guaranteed the purchase of them from the large pharmaceutical countries in advance, ensuring that the USA is now the best protected large country in the world. If you follow the data, the people that are refusing to get the vaccine are mostly non-whites in poor neighborhoods, even though the vaccines are free (thanks to Donald Trump).

I agree that Rodrigo is a no talent but the music business nowadays is filled with no talents, Billie Eilish is another no talent example.

In today's music scene, if you want to call it "music", writing good songs is not required and you don't even need to be a good singer. Nowadays it's all about style and attitude over substance and unfortunately this is what appeals to much of the younger generation.

For me personally, I much prefer listening to stuff like this:

I never really understood the attraction that many had for cRap music, either (the "c" is silent).

Or punk, for that matter.

What I do remember while listening to heavy metal in the 1970s is my Mother screaming at me to "turn that garbage down!"

And I had to smile 20+ years later when overhearing music preferences of others, I discovered that I had the same tendencies of intolerance as she had.
