I tried contacting the seller but my eBay account is acting up. Maybe this print has the original phone numbers. |

I fixed my eBay issue and emailed the seller. I got this reply
Hi, I'm sorry but I am unable to run the print. I collected 35mm films for many many years and along the way I bought 16mm prints as well but never got into running them. |

He also said that he can’t tell if it’s a syndicated print or not. I wonder if this print has the original number.

That is such a cool thing to have, whether it has the original number or not!
I remember how excited I was to get hold of some old Gilligan episodes on 16mm, one from each season, and how the unique mix of the third season theme, never released on home video, was intact on that show's print (episode titled "Take A Dare"). I love having my old Three Stooges shorts and movies, cartoons and features on good ol' celluloid and, even though I replaced the rollers in my Elmo (no tickling!) 16-cl projector last year, I rarely get to have screenings these days. |

Now, the only problem is FINDING a company that can dub this to DVD. I know back in 2004, my mother was able to go to Walgreens and dub her canisters of film slides to DVD but considering this is 2021 and this is a film strip, I don’t know,

Vintage cartoon afficionado Tom Stathes who runs/ran a blog called CartoonsOnFilm transferred my New 3 Stooges 16mm film to standard def dvd several years back (2010, probably, was the last time I had any telecine work done for me). I don't remember the cost per foot, but I believe the total was less than 100 clams for, roughly 8 minutes of runtime, and the film was fully cleaned as part of the service prior to being copied. I paid the postage both ways (with insurance, even though USPS insurance is.. iffy!), as well.
The copyright state of the 3 Stooges cartoons was allegedly up in the air, at the time, and the film can has the FBI piracy warning sticker on it, but there was no hassle with the transfer in my case. Don't know if he still offers telecine transfers but he might be worth looking up? One to avoid is Greg Hilbrich of 2Reelers.com or whatever iteration he uses, now. I think he stopped offering to do transfers years ago, which is good because he was not on the up-and-up, if you get my drift. |

Thank you. Would it be cool if this print has the original phone number?

You betcha! Shame it doesn't have the commercials still in place. My copy of "Unconventional Behavior" from 16mm has the original opening, Buick commercial (Smooth Ride), and Jackie's sponsor wrap-up at the end. Very cool stuff!

Well, I tried imemories.com in hoping they could dub it to DVD. Since it’s copyrighted, they can’t do it. Any suggestions?

I can capture the audio from the film, just not the video portion, as I have no telecine equipment. I used my Elmo 16-CL projector (now with brand new rollers from Larry Urbanski!) to capture the original third season theme from Gilligan's Island (not available on any home media version) and lay that over an existing video transfer, which I keep uploading to Youtube and then deleting for some reason.
If the print has the original phone number, I could certainly capture the audio and paste it over an existing video file where appropriate. That kind of editing is simplistic, at best. If the phone number is the edited version, it wouldn't need to be transferred, anyway, as superior versions already exist on home video. That's all I could offer. |

I would try to upload pics if people want me to. There is also a red tag on the film that is very hard to read and I am afraid to pull on it but it looks like it says “Do not…please…after…”
It doesn’t say Viacom, syndication or any date on it. |

Well, I sent this tape reel of this to cloggedmind. He posted the video of the 16MM footage on YouTube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91i_XUcY62c If you listen to it, it doesn’t have the original number. When I asked him if the episode aired like that for the first time, he said this: “ Did the episode air with the revised number? I would say, yes. Further, since the Blu-ray set was created by scanning the original negatives and the overdubs are present there, I would surmise that the phone number was changed before broadcast. Plus, remember how tight CBS (and other television networks') censors were, back in the day. They would never knowingly allow a real number to be broadcast that could cost the network even more than what they were throwing at Gleason” I will have the footage in my possession. It’s a rare collectible. |
