Be it through streaming, torrents, Blu-ray, DVD, VHS etc., what are the movies that you would like to see, but could never get your hands on?

I'm surprised that Jeff Goldblum's 1986 movie The Fly hasn't been seen in stores and since the film was released in 1986 they should release it in a anniversary edition on DVD. Another movie that is rare to find on DVD is Disney's movie Angels In The End Zone and they should release it in a special edition DVD

Also, The Fly was included in a special edition Blu-ray box set released by Shout! Factory a couple of years ago. |

I've been able to at least find downloads of most anything except movies that are lost in general. One that's escaped me though is 1988's BLOOD SCREAMS. I have found it online but not in English.

These are all horror as that's the genre I love trying to track down the obscure/lesser knowns.
Some films I'd come across years ago that were considered to be extremely obscure or lost, turned out to be hoaxes. These are all horror as that's the genre I love trying to track down the obscure/lesser knowns. Some of these: sLaughterhouse 2 (don't remember the release year, early 90s, a supposed sequel to the 1987 Texas slasher Slaughterhouse, which is real), credited as Julianne Moore's first movie, even listed on IMDB, a poster, and supposed photos from the production in a magazine. I don't remember how long it was on IMDB, but was finally removed. The Final Prom (late 80s), a supposedly lost slasher film, listed on IMDB, and director was even credited for another 80s horror film, can't remember the title of that one. Indian Fetish Cult (1997) Supposedly a co-production from China and New Zealand. Peter Jackson's production company WingNut Films, and starred Hong Kong Category III actress Amy Yip. The Last Motel (1981, Australia) This is still listed on IMDB, now though the Trivia shows that it's a promotional gimmick for a book of the same name. But originally the only Trivia was two little tidbits about the movie. It worked though as I did buy the book. Still wish the movie was real though. Some I question their existence: Dead End (1985) A found footage-style horror film with zombies. From IMDB- According to a post on the s9.zetaboards.com site, Emerson Bixby the director of the movie, says: "Dead End" was never released. I shot it on video with a budget of maybe fifteen hundred dollars, made several copies to send to small-time distribution companies, and nothing ever happened. None of the distributors responded, and the ten or so copies kept by myself and some of the crew are - to my knowledge - all that remains of "Dead End." My copy was lost in '87, and I have lost contact with pretty much everyone involved. Though there are 2 reviews posted for the movie on IMDB, the director himself can't find a copy, yet 2 people claim to have seen it. Other lost/obscure: Carnage Hall (1988) A few years ago, on a forum I'm a member of, someone posted that the director was working on a release of the film but was having a hard time because of music rights (Danny Elfman songs), and there was even supposedly a sequel made which I see no info for anywhere. Two lost 1970s Bigfoot movies: Sasqua (1975) and Revenge Of Bigfoot (1979), supposedly the director of Sasqua was trying to get a DVD release made for the film, but passed away before anything could happen. Junior (1984) Not to be confused with the 1985 horror flick of the same name, or the 1994 Ahnold classic. This film starred Frank DeCaro (who some might remember from the pre-Jon Stewart Daily Show years. Savannah (1989) Killer reptile flick, and from the same production company- Scorpion (1989), Dark Harvest (1986) Cucko Clocks Of Hell, this is the original 175 min cut of the 1970s snuff-themed horror film The Last House On Dead End Street. |

I remember those first four. Around the same time there were claims of SUMMERHOUSE SLAUGHTER (which I found out was real but unfinished and all info attached to it was wrong), GORY GRADUATION and CHEERLEADER CAMP 2.
I'm convinced Bill is lying about DEAD END. The imdb page was swiped from another film (ALIEN LUST), and immediately got a bunch of ratings and reviews. SAVANNAH, DARK HARVEST and a cluster of others are all part of it. Bill is credited as writer on EVE which connects to SAVANNA, BEES, VIPER, etc. They're all linked to each other and DEAD END via cast and/or crew. And all are coincidentally MIA. As an archivist it pisses me off that Bill and co. have created such a mess because lots of sites compile their info from imdb. It's nearly impossible to fix because while these films are fakery, if you Google them they look legit cause they show up sites like AMC and BFI, all thanks to these imdb pages being up and unchallenged for years. It's about 15 films total, maybe 1 or 2 real films (or zero) and a huge web of b.s. I suspect the point of it all was to take advantage of imdb's lax editing policies to create a resume in order to claim experience when looking for film work. Hence, why no actors or creators are looking for any of the other films yet they have reviews and 100-200 votes (despite never seeing a release)...they don't want them to be scrutinized, they just need the pages to quietly exist so potential collaborators will believe they have a bunch of films under their belt should they check up on them. 1974's CHILLER is one I'm convinced was never released and probably never made. John Stanley had a habit of reviewing films in his Creature Features guides without actually watching them. Sometimes he jumped the gun and reviewed films that were only announced because by the time his books hit the shelves the film would be in release. Of course this bit him in the ass if the film ended up cancelled in the interim. The CHEERLEADER CAMP 2 confusion is because of him. He reviewed it (and gave it one star) in his 3rd CF guide! I think National Geographic has a print of REVENGE OF BIGFOOT but it's hard to get a reply from them. However, they did a show on bigfoot sightings or something in 2006 and among the random bigfoot-related stock footage is part of REVENGE'S opening credit sequence! It never had a home release and it's not from a trailer so it must have been taken from a print of the film. They're likely unaware it's even considered lost! |

I'd love to find a source for the 1968 flick "Now You See it, Now You Don't" |

That's a good point about Dead End, and that does make sense, after all the author and publisher of The Last Motel book took advantage to help sell their book. No doubt the 2 reviewers on Dead End's IMDB page were also involved. I haven't seen it, but there was a film made using the Cheerleader Camp 2 plot outline, doubt it's any good though. I did not know that about Revenge Of Bigfoot, it's interesting how many unfinished horror movies are out there, some of course never made it past script, but some actually started shooting (a few even finished, but never made it to post), you can see scenes from the unfunished 1970s horror film Tales To Rip Your Heart Out during the opening credits of the U.S. cut of Zombie Holocaust (titled Dr Butcher MD) |
