In pop culture, you will, from time to time, hear someone state or claim that it is bad luck for the groom to see the bride in her wedding dress before their wedding. But what about the bride and groom who simply do not believe in superstition? And what about the bride and groom wanting to make sure everything in their wedding goes right (like, foe example, making sure the bride's wedding dress isn't hideous-looking)? Every time you hear that statement, doesn't it just irk you? I couldn't find any reasons as to why it is "bad luck" for the groom to see the bride in her wedding dress before their wedding. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

The good "old superstitions" or some call "old traditions" can be a mystery.
![]() Once the Bride puts on her dress for the wedding, it often can be the responsibility of the Maid or Matron of Honor to make sure that it looks prefect. Some couples today actually want to have their formal pictures taken before the wedding, some even on the night before (at rehearsal) ![]() As far as making sure everything goes "right" at a wedding, forget about, something almost always goes wrong, even if it's just a little thing. I was at a wedding once when we were waiting on the Minister to show up, he got rear-ended on the way to the church ....no injuries just delayed. Here is something that I found that covers 5 superstitions of the past from the origins to the modern twists of today. (must click on link below to read about them) #1: It’s bad luck for the groom to see the bride in her wedding dress before the ceremony. #2: The bride must wear something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue (and a silver sixpence in her shoe). #3: The person who catches the bride’s bouquet or garter when she tosses it over her head will be the next to get married. #4: The bride and groom must save the top layer of their wedding cake to eat on their first anniversary. #5: The groom must carry his new wife across the threshold of their new home to prevent bad luck. https://www.bridalguide.com/planning...-superstitions |

It's an old wive's tale, today I would guess some grooms to be go with the gal to buy her dress/gown.
Even in recent years couples are wrting their own vows and not buying into old antiquated ones. When I think back to my old vows, Obey, I'd no way go for that today. How about Respect, Communicate....those words are left out from years ago vows. |
