Do ya agree with Sally on not liking the idea of Universal Television taking over her show and becoming more like Jerry Springer and Maury?

When Sally Jessy Raphael made her talk show debut in 1983 little did we know that she would become the most popular talk show host and she proved that she could do it with her own style. But when Oprah Winfrey's talk show debuted in 1986 Sally knew she had competition. And so during the years that Sally Jessy Raphael's talk show ran Sally always knew how to keep topics new and fresh. But she also inspired a new fashion trend in the 80's with her trademark red glasses that she wore. But I think it all went downhill when Sally Jessy Raphael started changing her image on her talk show by adding topics that didn't really fit her talk show and when other talk show hosts such as Jenny Jones and Ricki Lake made the scene Sally lost her title as talk show queen and that's why The Sally Show ended it's run in the 2000's

Glad she stood up for what she felt was right. Universal's team sound like scum, at least from Sally's perspective.

I agree with Sally. I remember an episode in the early/mid 90s when Springer was getting famous where Sally had on pimps and porno kings who recruited young girls. Of course the audience was booing the guests for their exploitation of young girls but when the show was over, Sally refused to shake the hands of her guests. I remember thinking, why would you invite them on your show knowing what they would say and then disrespect them by not even thanking them for appearing. But now this all makes sense. She was pushed out there to do junk TV and she wanted no part of it.
