Default June hugging the paper"boy"

Season 6 Episode 4, The Cleaver's suffer an incompetent newspaper delivery person.

After Beaver takes her to fisticuffs, and Ward scolds her to tears, our grand matriarch enters from the background, and slips an arm around the girl, to comfort her.

How well would that go over in today's society? A virtual stranger, an adult, putting their arm around your child, behind closed doors?

Remember the girl claimed the family had just recently moved into the neighborhood, so the renown Cleaver legacy of wholesomeness has yet to be established for this family.

I suspect if something like this happened today, "guilty until proven innocent" would be the prevailing atmosphere.

It's a little better with witnesses. I saw it and didn't think about that, but I do see your point. Her mother was in the car, and today might have calld the cops after the girl related it to her.

It's really sad when innocent little acts have to be suspect (which is right that that do) due to the number of people with bad motives.

Yeah, the boy who tried to beat her up, and the man who brought her to tears..

Great witnesses!!

I suspect there have always been "abusive" adults, perhaps these days we are just more sensitive due to heightened awareness?

I don't see an issue with that, even today. A woman, a wife and mother, comforting a girl in that manner and in that situation.

As far as any of those 3 qualifiers go, prisons are full of each flavor. (meaning that I don't see any of them as an automatic assurance)

Let her fondle her own kids, Too many variables to find any comfort in this.

Believe it or not - in Mass & NH there is a movement for teachers to teach 1st graders that it's ok for a 1st grader to touch oneself (OK +-) ... BUT it's not ok for a 1st grader to be hugged by ANYONE including the parents without the 1st graders granting permission - they are being instructed to Turn In Hugging Offenders to their teacher - ALL offenders including their parents ...

Mass Teacher Union is most likely the force pushing this nationally +- (?)

Time for the the Teacher Union to be taken to TASK !

But of course the MSM has not a single news story regarding this

Just when you thought you'd heard everything...

Where do they come up with this sh*t?

IF they were to try for a national law on this, it would be unconstitutional, IMO. The rationale is in the Bill of Rights, which generally spells out what the Government cannot do.
