Sad Gavin MacLeod (1931-2021)

https://tinyurl.com/5tn27ryx

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Television actor Gavin MacLeod of “The Love Boat” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” has died. He was 90.

MacLeod died early Saturday, his nephew, Mark See, told Variety. MacLeod’s health had been poor recently but no cause of death was given, the trade publication reported.

MacLeod achieved stardom as Murray Slaughter, the sardonic TV news writer on the 1970s comedy “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”

He went to a lead role, and bigger fame, as the cheerful Capt. Stubing on “The Love Boat.” Early in his career, he was featured on “McHale’s Navy” from 1962 to 1964 as seaman Joseph “Happy” Haines.

His movie credits included “Kelly’s Heroes,” “The Sand Pebbles,” “The Sword of Ali Baba,” “War Hunt” and “The Crime Busters.” Among his more recent TV credits were “Touched By An Angel,” “JAG” and “The King of Queens.”

Now it’s just Ed Anser, Betty White, and John Amos.

Yes, Betty is nearly 100 and Asner is really up there, too. Amos is a youngster at 81.

Amos seems like he’s gonna be a around for a while, Betty will probably be around a couple more years, and I think Ed might be the next one if not Betty, but you never know. The number of MTM stars we’ve lost is unbelievable. First, Ted Knight, then Mary Tyler Moore years later, Georgia Engel, Valerie Harper, Cloris Leachman, and now Gavin MacLeod. It’s just a trio now and the whole pack was together again for a Hot In Cleveland episode just a couple of years ago.

I've been debating whether or not I should post a message about how amazing it is that the entire main cast of "The Love Boat" is still alive. Obviously, I can't do that anymore.

I just started watching reruns again of The Love Boat on Pluto (it's a streaming service) recently. May he rest in peace.

Oh wow, that is sad, I believe Love Boat was one of the last shows from that time period where the entire cast was still alive, up until now. Bernie Copell will be 88 in June.

I haven't watched Love Boat, but sad to see him passed away, he had great career in acting.
