Okay, I'm trying to remember this...

Didn't Al fall in love with Chachi's Mom, and they moved away or something like that?

After Al and Louisa got married, they, along with Chachi and eventually Joanie, moved to Chicago where Al opened an Italian restaurant. (Thus the premise of Joanie Loves Chachi).

I noticed on todays episode Al was the preist at the wedding.

That was Father Delvecchio, he was in the baptism epsiode where he said he and Al were twins until Al got his nose fixed

My guess is that there were budgetary concerns. With the ratings falling, and Erin Moran and Scott Baio returning, there probably wasn't a lot of extra money to throw around. The cast is noticeably smaller during the last season, with Jenny, Flip, K.C., Ashley, Heather, and Arnold gone from the previous season, and Potsie only on occasionally.

It was Fonzie and Ashley who broke up. Heather was Ashley's daughter. Ashley's ex husband came back, I think, and she decided to give him another chance.
