Watching today "Pride and Privacy ' Part 2 that I saw like a million times already before , I picked up on something unusual ? Or I think is unusual? Maybe not?

Both Julie and Barbara have looked at the same apartment for rent , not realizing each other has and than become in competition for the apartment for themselves and their Hubbies Max and Mark!

Anyway the apartment is described as " A basement apartment in and old house on Lombard Street owned by a little old lady with blue hair, it has a fireplace and a little room for you to write (Max) you to study (Mark)" ! Anyhoo, a fireplace in a basement of an old house converted into an apartment?? Can there really be a fireplace in a basement???

I just today caught onto that !!

Thoughts??

Seems like it would be a fire hazard!

But than it is a finished basement, nicely converted into an apartment, not a damp dreary place filled with tools and junk !

I guess the old lady with the blue hair had it built, added to attract more renters, give it a warm cozy feel!

I would have liked to have seen this! I wish they had a scene where either Julie or Barbara was looking at this basement apt., and I would like to see Mrs.Blue hair too !

the house i grew up in has a fireplace in the basement. built in the early 70s.

We also had a fireplace in the house I grew up in. With 2 large built in bookshelves on each side of it. It was in the basement family room.

This house has one. Ten or so feet from it is a regular exit door to the back yard (walk-out basement).
