As you can see, I am trying very hard to stimulate some conversation about this fine series. So far, none of my recent posts have generated any replies. I have been doing my best to think of topics that other fans might be interested in. I see that I have now been passed over by somebody responding to the A-Z thread. I have since replied to that thread. Right below that one is one by me that has sixty-five views and zero replies. I have decided to commemorate this reality by mentioning that Lauri Hendler who played Julie from this show was born in 1965. For those of you who do not know, Julie was always my favorite character on this series. Something about her always made me drool!

Fun fact (well, fun for me anyways)— Lauri played Valerie Bertinelli’s sister in The Promise Of Love, 1980

I feed sad for Lauri Hendler in that she survived being a childhood actor/actress with a solid head on her shoulders, but Gimme a Break! was essentially the end of her career as far as being a star, even though she went to UCLA during that time to get an acting degree. Also, Lauri was an ace player on game shows like Super Password and Pyramid, but she couldn't continue guesting on those shows because she had little-to-nothing going on career-wise.

https://www.dailymotion.com/video/xcn1zd https://thebluntpost.com/wp-content/...A-2.pdf#page=5 I hate to say it, because the world shouldn't necessarily value these things so much, but maybe Lauri needed a better fitness regimen or more cosmetic surgery to remain a star as an actress. Then maybe she could've, say, replaced or co-starred with an Alyssa Milano on Charmed or Mistresses, or had a career like Leah Remini (who definitely went under the knife, if you notice the difference between her early story arc on Saved by the Bell, compared with her roles as an adult). BTW, Julie was also my favorite of the girls on the show. |

I find it interesting that you mention Leah Remini. One thing that I would like to say about her is that I happen to have an autographed picture of her. The thing that I most associate her with is her role on the short-lived sitcom "Fired Up". I thought that she and Sharon Lawrence (whom I also have an autographed picture of) had very good chemistry). I felt bad that that series did not make it! |
