Default Anyone Find Hank Kimball Annoying?

If you've watched Green Acres over the years you probably remember the county agent Hank Kimball. He started talking about something and then he forgot what he was talking about that got Oliver constantly yelling at him. Anyone find Hank Kimball annoying?

Oliver sure did lol But when I was young watching the show Kimball was my favorite character, he had me in stitches. But now it kinda makes me TIRED listening to him go on and on esp. toward the end of the series when you can't even have the simplest of conversation with him. I mean, by the end of the series you couldn't even say, "Hi there" to him and have him understand what you were talking about lol

I still think he's funny in the earlier years when he's not totally brain dead

I heard that originally Kimball was NOT supposed to be a total moron and was supposed to be a more normal character, more like Mr. Drucker, someone who was somewhat on Oliver's level who Oliver could decently communicate with. But Alvy Moore started adlibing lines

Yes I do....but on the hand sometimes I find him funny...YET...wait...no I really do....huh...what was the question again? LOL

(Real answer: a little but Haney is the one who really makes me upchuck)

Mr. Kimball is one of my favorite characters on the show but I can understand how he could get on someone's nerves. Personally I love the non sequitur tangents and confused ramblings. It's always a linguistic adventure when he shows up.

Alvy Moore never adlibbed lines. Jay Sommers was extremely meticulous about his scripts and insisted they be performed as written. Some interesting trivia is that Green Acres frequently used teleprompters on set, which was something Alvy Moore found to be a lifesaver for obvious reasons.

Aw that's kinda disappointing, I always thought Alvy Moore adlibbed a lot with his Mr Kimball character

Ugh yes! His character was great in Seasons 1-3, when he was bumbling and slightly confused (in a Gracie Allen kind of way), but it wasn't the only element to his personality. His character definitely got on my nerves in Seasons 4-6. He got so confused he couldn't even speak a complete sentence without rambling on. This slowed down the scenes with him way too much.

He was a likable character, but Gawwd was he dizzy. (Hated Haney the goniff)

He was annoying but a charming sort of way like most of the characters on the show, its interesting to note that he isn't much different between hank and Alvy, he was on another show and he pretty much was doing the hank Kimball shtick.
