Had total knee replacement on my right knee. Been in Rehab 3 weeks. Still have a way to go before I can go home. Still having difficulty standing up . I am in an Assisted Living facility and am hoping to be home in a few weeks. The pain is not so severe now but still uncomfortable. I have my laptop so I am not totally bored. I am SO ready to go home! Hopefully soon.

Certainly "best wishes" to you for a complete recovery.
My mother had a knee replaced, and the discomfort never left her. She concluded that if she had it to do over, she wouldn't go through it again. Hopefully, your mileage may vary. |

So glad you're on your way to recovery -- best wishes and may you have a really speedy one.
You seem to have had good "help," but will need to be careful not to "twist and shout." Soon people will be saying "I saw her standing there!" -- any pain will "blow away" and belong only to "yesterday." I don't know when they're in season, but I know you'll be ready to pick from the "strawberry fields" again, maybe on "Junior's farm"...!

So glad to hear from you, Marlene, and that you're on the mend! Many family members of mine have had knee replacements over the years, and they've all gone very well. Even though I'm sure the facility is the last place you want to be right now, you'll be back home on your feet in no time.

I have a nasty knee from hip replacement surgery complications and have no plans to do a knee job. Good luck. |

My knee is all so worse from hip replacement BUT I can't do more surgery on my body, as it brings on more arthritis and more damage. I know there are people out there that do more and more surgeries thinking they are the answers, but not really, more damage to our bodies....our culture has been surgery surgery but there is Regenerative Medicine being done now to keep people from those surgeries, the PRP and Stem Cells are more and more being used..people have been harmed and are looking for other help.

While we await an update from Marlene, we can only "imagine" what it's been like as she's attempted to "get back" to how things were for her.
"Stuck inside these 4 walls" unfortunately is the case for anyone undergoing something comparable, certainly with many a "hard day's night." She just needs to "let it be" while the body heals, "listen to what the man [or woman doctor] says," and then it's "(just like) starting over" as the mobility recovery progresses...! Best wishes.

I am still in assisted living but getting stronger. I am able to stand up without assistance and can walk holding onto a railing. I am hoping to go home soon as on the first of the month I have to pay ahead for the month of May. So I hope I can go home this coming week. Between paying for my husband's care and mine it is putting a dent in my savings account. Each facility runs me $4500.00 a month each so my money won't last forever. I'm glad that Dave set up such a good savings account or we would be screwed.
