Default So why weren’t these three characters at Phil’s funeral…

Kate; Stan and Dorothy’s daughter, Michael; Stan and Dorothy’s son, and Gloria; Dorothy and Phil’s own sister. Especially Gloria who appeared in the season seven hurricane episode but didn’t show up for her own brother’s funeral. And then notice there was no mention of her brother when she appeared in the season seven episode.

I guess for the same reasons they never kept track of the Zbornak kid's ages, and that Rose's maiden name was Lindstrum....NOT Nylund. Lots of inconsistencies due to changing writers, and lack of attention to detail.

Even more questionable than his sister, niece and nephew's absences is why did none of Phil and Angela's offspring appear at their father's funeral? Though their number varied from episode to episode, during the episode Angela herself praised him as being a good father (regardless of his transvestism). So if he was so good a father, why didn't any of them show up or even send regrets (e.g. stuck in a sequestered jury pool, hospitalized, imprisoned, etc.)? BIG writing fail here!

Gloria didn’t attend Dorothy’s remarriage to Stan either

Inconsistency is what messes up this show. So Stan introduces his brother, Ted, to the girls but after that episode he’s never mentioned again and he doesn’t even attend Stan’s remarriage to Dorothy.

You're absolutely right! And, for that matter, why didn't Sophia's sister Angela or brother Angelo attend Sophia's (as it turned out but everyone thought it was her 2nd) 3rd wedding to Max ? Hello, not only were both still living but both were living in Miami at the time!

Exactly ! Too many inconsistencies. The writers just either forgot or didn't care to fill in these plot holes.

Well Rose mixed up the wedding invitations so I get that one.

Stan's brother Ted was a dirtbag. He was even worse than Stan. He had such lousy moral fiber. Dorothy must have not wanted Ted at her remarriage to Stan. She probably didn't agree to Ted being there at the wedding after what Ted did to her. He treated her like dirt. Remember, Ted used Dorothy for a one-night stand. After he and Dorothy went out on a few dates, they had sex. Then at the restaurant where they met up with Stan, Stan said "Are you really interested in Dorothy?" right in front of Dorothy. Ted said, "No of course not." and says that he only wanted Dorothy to be free for a weekend so that that she could babysit either his children or his girlfriend's children, while Ted and his girlfriend would go away for a weekend vacation. Dorothy gets revenge on Ted by humiliating in him in public. Right before leaving the restaurant, Dorothy gets up and makes an announcement at the microphone telling the other restaurant patrons that Ted is impotent.

(Ted and Dorothy were both guilty of disgusting, trashy, and stupid behavior. They were both so wrong.
For that reason, "Brotherly Love" is one of my least favorite Golden Girls episodes, and I usually don't watch that one when it comes on TV. )

Right, Ted was a major scumbag, but still, he should’ve at least been referenced to.
