Sad My mother has breast cancer

I found out earlier today that my mother has breast cancer. When she went in for her mammogram a few weeks ago, she had to go her followup appointment a few weeks later to see if the result came back positive or not.

She found out the results today, and she has it. The good news is that it's not metastatic and she'll be having Lumpectomy surgery done.

Hang in there, Mikaela and Mikaela's mom! The good news is that treatments for breast cancer are way better than they used to be!

Sorry to hear about your Mom's diagnosis. Thank God, it was detected early! After her Lumpectomy, your Mom should recover and do well, with continued monitoring.
Mikaela, I don't know how old you are, but you should start monthly self breast exams, for the rest of your life, by age 20 AND you should have your first mammogram, 10 years younger than what your Mom is right now, ie, if your Mom was first diagnosed at age 50 than you should have a mammogram at age 40, because of your family history. Early detection is everything!

So sorry to hear this. Your mother is wise going for her regular screenings. I'm sure this enabled her to catch it early, and that everything will end up going well for her.
