Patrick Swayze - what happened to his career?

In the early 1990s, Patrick Swayze’s career was going gangbusters, having starred in the hits Ghost and Point Break. By 2000, however, he was no longer bankable. His final role was the short-lived A&E series “The Beast”, where he was obviously ill with the cancer that killed him in 2007. Was there any particular movie that killed his career?

When you mention Patrick Swayze the first movie people associate him with is Dirty Dancing and when Dirty Dancing came out in 1987 Patrick Swayze became huge and was a big crush of teenage girls and it was also in that movie that Patrick Swayze showed his singing talent. Remember She's Like The Wind? But it wasn't until the 1990 film Ghost that Patrick had proven himself worthy of stardom and after Ghost his career started to go downhill with Point Break and the movie U571 that action movies suited Patrick Swayze well but if he hadn't branched into TV shows and focused on movies he would've still been a hit star in Hollywood. But had he not gotten diagnosed with cancer and died I think Patrick Swayze could've expanded his career and made a comeback to movies or could've starred in a sitcom or crime drama if he would be still alive today
