Watching season 2. I've just finished EP 36 "Forgotten Party" . They must of written it in ten minutes. Beaver forgets a 11:30 Saturday party to neurotic David Manning. Mrs Manning calls "where's Beaver'? An hour the Cleavers search for him. Finally he's found covered in tar. He'd walked on, then fell on a freshly tarred road. No sane kid walks on fresh tar, sorry. Cleanup hours? He miraculously makes his late party on time. And David Manning (Johnny Collier)? Born in 4/44. A year older than Wally 4/45. Odd, strange, weak episode in a terrific season 2. Rated it 3/10 being generous.

Hard to believe that kid is around 15. He looks like a 9 or 10 year old who chews (his fingers) like a beaver.

The episode was written by Connelly and Mosher. Looks like they should have had some seasoned sitcom writer or writers fix the script.

The episode where Wally catches June making out with Eddie in the den while Ward looks on. Disgusting!

I'll take this episode over Beaver in the Bunny suit any day. Though I will say David Manning is one of the more annoying characters on the series.

David Manning, Kenneth Purcell, and Jackie Waters--a trio of insufferable kids. We ought to do a poll of which one is the worst.

Lumpy's one-liners after Beaver the bunny came downstairs saved that episode.

By least favorite, I mean ones that I don't care to see in repeat views, and so I won't record on the DVR for re-watching. Once was enough.

- The Beaver in the Bunny Suit one

- Pet Fair

- Wally's Mustache

- Wally's Pug Nose

- The one where the boys want to play but they have to hang around the house because June's Aunt Martha is visiting.

- The one with 'Chopper' in it.

- The one where Wally contemplates military school.

- The paper drive one.

S3 E29 "Beaver's Monkey" is absolutely horrendous. Ward's something like " we can't say no to him having a monkey, after telling him he couldn't have a mouse." "I don't want to be the one to say no". The cast seemed to be calling it in on this rediculoous episode. Their performances seemed strained. Even their voices seemed tense being near the monkey.

One of the stories Rusty Stevens tells in that long thread I bumped up, is of the monkey getting away from the trainer and pulling his hair. He says he still has a fear of monkeys. That incident could account for the actors' tense voices. He thinks the trainer finally got the monkey off him.

An ill-conceived episode, like the one with the horse, which also caused a lot of trouble. They could blame Hugh for writing that one, and George Tibbles for this one.

I've read animals are always a problem on the set, understandably. They have trouble doing what the director says!

Beaver's supposed to be around 13 in these episodes, and that's a difficult age. Gilbert pushed him back into being a selfish little kid, then Wally made the mistake of giving him a choice.

Beaver's conscience eventually kicked in, but by that time Wally had missed the game. At least Beaver got him a baseball.

No one mentioned the Puddin' episode yet, but it's the worst, IMO. "Child Care" from season 1.

I didn't mind it. Rated it 8/10. Preposterous, irresponsible, improbable yes. Letting 2 kids babysit a little girl by themselves is absolutely stupid. Script with tons of holes. But, it was bad funny. Monkey was bad unfunny.

The David Manning character made sense to me: He was an insecure kid who needed friends and had to get Beaver to go to his party even though he hardly knew him.
