MWAHAHAHA some of them are HILLYARIOUS. Since they taped 5 episodes a week and they barely and rarely edited or reshot stuff, there are a lot of bloopers. In one of the early earlyo nes from August 1966 Alexandra Moltke (Victoria W) is talking to Joan Bennett (Elizabeth Collins Stoddard) or Louis Edmonds (Roger Collins) and starts smiling and looks like she's gonna laugh but contains herself. Alexandra herself admits she would get giggle fits at times.

In the Dr. Lang episodes Barnabas (Joanthan Frid) messedu p his lines and couldn't remember the name 'Dr. Woodard'. Dr. Lang (Addison Powell) told him the name, but there is no way Dr. Lang would've known 'Dr. Woodard' on screen since Dr. Woodard met his demise in November 1967 and Dr. Lang came on the show in April 1968.

THey messed up names at times especially when they went back in time and they got new names..in a 1795 episode Sharon Smythe (Sarah Collins) calls Josette 'Jeremiah' then 'Joshua' before she gets it right.

This probably happened on other soaps of the time. Only problem is only a few episodes of these soaps from the 60s surivve.

Talking

Barnabus and Elizabeth have to be the worse of the worse. These 2 always forgot their lines and you could see it in their faces how they seem to struggle for the words.

On Joan Bennett..the first week I saw Dark Shadows was the week Burke was killed in a plane crash in Belem, Brazil. Joan Bennett as Elizabeth Collins Stoddard is dialing a number after she called an airport about which plane crashed in Brazil (the airport wasn't sure so she called Brazil). Sarah Johnson (played by Clarice Blackburn) asked her where the plane was coming from. Joan Bennett forget where, so she started stomping her fit and said 'somewhere in Brazil'.There was al ong silence and then she remembered the city and then calmly said 'Belem'. Either Joanie made a mistake, or she was some actress by making herself look all frustrated

This was the reason I always thought those early episodes were done live as they sure flubbed their lines a great deal. Dr. Hoffman never seemed to know what the heck she supposed to be saying in virtually every scene she was in!!! It's funny watching the actors fumble and stammer around!

I think they started to flub a lot more after Barnabas arrived. The 207 episodes that were on before that were pretty much uncomplicated, but when the entire supernatural thing started going the characters were given strange lines at times and if I was them I would've been confused by those lines too LOL.

I didn't realize that the series started without the character of Barnabas! I always just assumed he was the main character from the very beginning! Again, Burke, you are a fountain of information on Dark Shadows.

Tomorrow there's a big blooper in the end credits for the 10:30 AM episode. Jonathan Frid accidently walks in during the middle of them with his street clothes and walks across the set LOL. Thayer David also did that once way back in the Dream Curse storyline.
