Alderman Davis helping James find a job

Since Alderman and James seem to know each other for long time, I wonder why James did not seek Alderman Davis's help in securing a good job with the state or Davis' known associates.

Alderman Davis helped Florida landing the bus driver job because of his recommendation. And he probably could have done the same thing with James. Jobs like security officer, working in post office or even a bus driver.

Sometimes is who you know that get one a good job. For example, I landed my best job because of my former boss referral and recommendation to the company.

Maybe one thing that held James back from seeking help was that he didn't have a high school diploma as most government jobs do require it.

Usually knowing someone high up would allow them to get past that
