Default Beaver Says Good-bye (2 /29)

Excited about possibly moving to a bigger house in a new neighborhood, Beaver tells his whole third grade class. But when the house sale falls through, embarrassed Beaver doesn't know how ...

I found it odd that when Beav admits to Ward and June he didn't ANNOUNCE his family was indeed now Not moving that Neither Ward or June offered to call the school / Ms Landers / or the Principal to help the poor kid out ...

(?)

I also thought it was odd. Also, Miss Landers seemed to know the gifts had been returned, but I think she had just been with Mrs. Rayburn.

I really need to re-view the DVD version and see if MeTV cut something out.

Also, any kid who was able to make his way home after getting on the wrong bus a few episodes ago, should have been able to talk to Miss Landers after class and tell her they weren't moving. Yes, there would go the episode!

I agree it is odd. But crackerjack Miss Landers helps the Beav out and yells at Judy. sit down Judy! And in the version I saw, after Larry threatens to slug Judy if she goes to get her gift, Miss Landers kind of smiles. (Very subtly though)

I did watch the DVD version a few minutes ago. There was a scene I think was cut when Beaver had his shirt stuck and Wally unbuttoned the first few buttons so he could get it over his head.

June did ask if Beaver wanted her to go to the school with him and explain about the gifts--he said no. I don't remember whether that was cut on MeTV.

Yeah, I've always liked how Miss L. put Judy in her place. Also when Judy said, If I was Miss Landers... She walked in and said, Well, you're NOT Miss Landers!

LOL Judy played her part so well ...

I read in real life she was a sweetheart person, nothing like her character in the show ...

Yeah, I loved that part. The little fink certainly didn’t have good timing!

I'm watching the episodes in order. Moved up from beginning of season 2 to this episode because it's being discussed. Another redo of Beaver screwup, it's fixed, then a Ward speech. It's still watchable. The thing about the episode is why not just give the presents back? Why should Beaver keep them? Beaver is benefiting from a mistake. Wouldn't the gift givers parents be bewildered he kept them? 5* out of 10 episode.

I thought that too, but when watching the episode again, I'm seeing all these kids gathered around Beaver, piling presents on and singing goodbye, Beaver--at least at that moment, I can see a kid that age would be at a loss.

But as I said above he could have talked to Miss Landers later. Also when he has a problem, he talks to Ward or June and beats around the bush. Like he's in the garage talking to Ward while Ward is repairing a coffee pot, which he says was a wedding gift. Seeing an opportunity, Beaver asks if the gift would have to be returned if the marriage had been cancelled. But he never goes the extra mile and tells one of them, this just happened to him.

So June comes in and brings Beaver in the house, Larry comes in the garage, and finds out the Cleavers aren't moving. Then Ward and June confront Beaver, etc.

Also as I said above if these things didn't go on as they're written, the scripts would come up short!

I didn't see that as a "smile". I thought it looked more like a setting of the jaw, much in the way you'd expect a sort of "oh here's another neanderthal, threatening to get physical with womanood's finest flower"....type response.

I know writers have to make scripts interesting sometimes go to where the average person would do things quite differently than the script. But, LITB really has a lot of repititious scripts.
