Did you notice, or do you happen to recall, seeing a pack of cigarettes in Ward's shirtpocket?

I wasn't consciously looking for it. But, I didn't see any smokes on Ward in season 1.

S2, E16 "The Boat Builders". Near the end. Ward is reprimanding Wally & Beaver. Happens quickly. I freeze framed it. As he sits and bends over. You can see inside his shirt pocket. There is clearly a pack of cigarettes.

Wally endangering the Beaver's life drove him to smoke...

Just saw "Wally's Job" this morning--this episode was LOL, or yelling OHHHH!--at the stuff Beaver did with the paint (painting the garbage cans). Like letting the paint dribble off the brush, catching it with his hand and wiping the hand on his clothes.

But the crowning one, in the tag scene--Wally is oiling his glove and Beaver comes out of the bathroom, after obviously taking a bath--and he takes some of the oil from Wally and rubs it in his hair!!! I'm laughing thinking about it now.

Thanks! I had been wondering. It's amazing how commonplace smoking was back in the 1930s-60s....not so much on family sitcoms, but dramas and movies in general.

Kind of interesting in some ways. For instance when they were trying to portray someone as a heel, frequently they would have the character throw their cigarette butt on the floor and step on it, Gentlemen never seemed to do that.
