I just re watched all of Twilight Zone and Night Gallery. I remember seeing an episode of a show when I was a kid and I’m hoping someone will recognize it. It was Twilight Zonish for sure but I didn’t see it in five seasons of TZ and three seasons of NG. The story as I very vaguely remember it was an elderly woman at home. She was a talented/famous sculptor/potter/artist and had made I think a vase. Some burglars broke into her home and wanted to steal a specific valuable vase. She convinced them to come back in the morning. Overnight she made ten or twenty more to confuse the burglars as to which was the original. When the burglars returned in the morning and saw all the identical vases they cried, Alright! Now we’ve got twenty of them to sell! Or something like that.
I had a similar experience recently while watching Night Gallery—I saw an episode that I had seen as a kid; I remembered the story but not the name of the show. As soon as the show started my mind screamed voila! That made me think of this, which brought me here. Thanks in advance. |

It sounds like The Cheney Vase from Alfred Hitchcock Presents, instead of multiple burglars though it's one man, played by Darren McGavin.

Thank you both. I will check out EVIL TOUCH as I've never heard of it and am always looking for interesting from that era. I think Torgo is right. As soon as I read your response my mind went voila! I forgot I watched a fair amount of Alfred Hitchcock as a kid. Gonna go root that episode out right now and put my waffling mind at rest. Thank you so much.

It was definitely The Cheyney Vase. I just watched it again on youtube. Too cool. Darren McGavin is one of my favorites and he was great as the villain. I'm so glad I decided to post this thread. Thanks again Torgo and Treky.

Well this is kinda crazy. I went to youtube and searched The Evil Touch, and found a channel containing a bunch of episodes. I clicked the first episode and the first person I saw was Darren McGavin.
