Comet Cleanser Commercials With Josephine The Plumber - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Perhaps you recall seeing the classic Comet Cleanser commercials with everyone's Comet expert Josephine The Plumber. Josephine made her debut in the 1970's and was played by actress Jane Weithers and taught people the ABC's of how to use Comet Cleanser correctly in a funny manner. In fact in one of the commercials I found Josephine is trying to coax a little boy to tell people how to use Comet but the little boy doesn't want to. Who the little boy is happens to be actor Robby Benson at the age of possibly eight. Josephine retired from her plumbing duties in Comet commercials in the 80's but it sure paved the way for actress Jane Weithers who is now acting in cartoons and Disney movies today

Just like Mr. Whipple and the squeezing Charmin no-no and Rosie (Nancy Walker) with Bounty the quicker picker-upper, these Josephine commercials were classic.

I miss all the regular spokespeople for the different products. Loved Jane Withers as Josephine. Also, Madge the manicurist for Palmolive.
I was telling my wife last night that I really miss Mr. Whipple telling us how soft Charmin is as opposed to the bears telling us how itchy their rears are. The Charmin commercials now disgust me.

Hi, Bestie! I remember those commercials! They were in what I call the golden age of commercials. Commercials were entertaining, fun and did not preach some weird guilt trip at you. I wish they would bring that style back.
