Grey's Anatomy boss: We're approaching the Season 17 finale as if it were a potential series finale

"I'm planning a season and a finale that could function as either a season finale or a series finale," showrunner Krista Vernoff tells The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm planning for both contingencies and it's hard and it's not ideal. It's not where I wish we were." The Hollywood Reporter reports that ABC has been having renewal talks over Grey's Anatomy for months. So Vernoff is handling the uncertain future with two contingencies.
