Default Hot Cars

Whatever happened to the cool cars?

The 60's and 70's shows were loaded with great cars. SOme of them were practically stars of the shows!

I'm not talking about the gimmick cars, like the Batmobile or The Munster Koach, I'm talking about the cool cars the tough guys drove...

Rockford had his Firebird, Mannix had the custom Oldsmobile, Starskey and Hutch had the Gran Torino...

Even in the eighties, there was the Knight 2000, The A-Team Van, even Sonny Crocket's Spider..

Why is there a complete lack of cool cars on Dramas today?

On the drama "The Division" Jinny drove a Camaro. But she doesnt drive it anymore-long story. It was still a really nice car.

I know what you mean. I want a Chevel Supper Sport and a 1965 Mustang GT or a 1967 Shelby GT 500 Mustang. I also want a 1978 or 77 Camaro like the one Gary drove In Remember The Titains- if you saw that movie.

I love old cars(and im a girl).

I especially love Sabrina Duncan's Pinto. In the latest issue of "Biography Magazine," there is a photo essay about hot cars from TV and the movies. Here are the TV ones they had:

Tom Selleck and his $50,000 cherry-red Ferrari (Magnum P.I.)

David Hasselhoff and KITT, his Pontiac Trans-Am that could speed, fly, and talk. (Knight Rider)

Tom Wopat, John Schneider, and Catherine Bach with the General Lee, their souped up Dodge Charger. (Dukes of Hazzard)

Adam West and the original Batmobile. (Batman)

Paul Micheal Glaser and David Soul with their scarlet Ford Torino. (Starsky and Hutch)

Farrah Fawcett with her 1976 Ford Mustang. (Charlie's Angels)

Shirley Jones, David Cassidy, Susan Dey, Danny Bonaduce, Brian Foster, Suzanne Crough, and Dave Madden aboard their multi-colored schoolbus. (The Partridge Family)

Fred Gwynne, Yvonne DeCarlo, Al Lewis, Pat Priest, and Butch Patrick with the Munstermobile. (The Munsters)

The pictorial also includes pictures of Jerry Seinfeld and his Porche Carrera, Jay Leno and his 1928 Bugatti, and James Garner and his Mini Cooper (from 1966).

Others worth mentioning:

The A-Team's red and black van.
Officers Webster and Gillis' police car

Aside from the Division, nobody on Prime Time TV drives cool cars anymore.

What was the last show to feature a great car?

I know Don Johnson drove a cool convertable on "Nash Bridges,"
but I can't remember what kind it was...

Well, this might be one of the last. In the 1993 remake of Route 66 the 61 Vette was back. Cool car, horrible show.

That's true, Red's little corvette, or is it little Red's Corvette? No that's a Prince song...

Anyway, great car.

Actually that show has some great cars. Kelso has his VW Van, Hyde has his El Camino ( a friend of mine had the same color El Camino) and Eric has the Vista Cruiser.

Okay, forget the Vista Cruiser.

Hey - the best car out of all had to be David Hasseloff car K.I.T.T (Knight Industries 2000) from Knight Rider.

K.I.T.T could: Auto Cruise, had a Oxygen Vent, Pursuit Mode, Radar, Ski Mode, Turbo Boost, Auto Roof, DMV Check, Instant Replay, Radar, Rocket Thrusters, Smoke Screen, Surveillance Mode, Zoom-In, Chemical Analyzer, Computer Printout, Eject seat, Electronic Pilot Override, Linguistic Analyzer, Map Search, Medical scan/Vital Signs, Surveillance Mode, Third Stage Aquatic Synthesizer (that was when K.I.T.T drove on water), and to top it off K.I.T.T could talk and think. My fav was the Turbo Boost where K.I.T.T could jump over anything. What was even better was it was a female who made and added new things to K.I.T.T Dr Bonnie Barstow

theres lots more I could go on forever.

Here is K.I.T.T drving on water
