I heard,"Just looking out the window watching me ask for gold(Thought the Singer was saying someone was watching her beg on the streets for money),". Correct: Just looking out the window, watching the asphalt grow." Other GT Fans heard,"Just looking out the window watching the asphalt glow and thought the singer meant the sun was shining on the streets.
I heard,"Knocking down Castles(I assumed the singer was talking about businesses knocking down Housing Projects , many of which just had residents living there just about a couple of days ago, to make room for other things, a huge problem in the 1970's and 1980's) Correct. "Not getting hassled. I heard,"Not getting puzzled." Correct. "Not getting hustled." I heard,"Anytime of the month now." Correct. "Anytime you're out from under." I heard,"Keeping your head above water, making a way when you can." Good times was about surviving in the Ghetto, so making a way when you can is very plausible. ![]() Correct. "Keeping your head above water, making a wave when you can." I heard,"We we lucky we got em, Good Times!" Correct. "Ain't we lucky we got em, Good Times!" I heard,"Hanging in a Trolley." I assumed they were hanging in a Trolley, a type of bus that goes up and down Chicago. I am the ONLY one who heard it as "Hanging in a Trolley. Other GT Fans heard," Hanging in a Chow line, which also makes sense as a Chow line is a Soup Kitchen, which poor People who live in a Project would need to survive.... GT Fans also heard,"Hanging in a Jury," which could mean being forced to do Jury Duty or the Hung Jury which means that the Jury has not decided Guilty or Not Guilty yet, I believe. Falsely Correct. "Hanging in a Chow line, once again as Dave Chappelle infamously claimed it was on his Sketch,"I know Black People." His false claim that this is the REAL lyric caused a lot of GOOD Controversy. ![]() The REAL Correct. "Hanging and jivin!" Binkie Williams who COWROTE the Theme admitted she wrote,"Hanging and jivin." The thing is she sings this lyric kind of high pitched, which is why it kind of sounds like,"Hanging in a Chow line or "Hanging in a Jury," or in my SOLE case,"Hanging in a Trolley."
