Default A good episode on Bullcrap classes one must take in college.

I enjoyed the last episode of Young Sheldon (Feb. 13) where Sheldon has to take a philosophy class for his major.

Side question, what is his major? Bachelor of Science? Sort of unclear on that subject but whatever.

This brings me back when I went to college and remember all the stupid classes I had to take for my degree, classes that had NOTHING to do with my degree whatsoever. Most of the first year of college was basically the 13th Grade of High School. I was a Business Major and had to take English Literature for a year, an Art class, and a year of Science (again for a Business Degree) and wound up taking geology (absolutely boring and stuck studying dirty rocks in a basement science lab with a bunch of other students having to take the same crap for a degree not associated with geology whatsoever), and then Astronomy, which I thought would be fun but was mostly boring and studying involved, although I did learn that one cannot land a spaceship on Saturn or Jupiter since they are both Gas Giants.

Concerning the Art Class, it was Art History. I never took it but students that had to take the course absolutely hated and loathed it because they actually had to study and learn different artists, artwork and all of that and the professor didn’t make it easy and there was studying involved. Actually when I finished all my courses and submitted for my degree, I was told that the Art Class I took (it was an art class) wasn’t suitable and needed Art History, and I wound up raising hell about it in the office, it was their mistake, had family come from far away see me graduate and wasn’t going to ask my father to spend another $700 for this worthless class.

The colleges will argue that these courses makes a student more “well rounded”. I think it’s a waste of time unless the student is interested in those courses. Some reasons why college is so expensive.

I live abroad and saw most of the episode online but it stopped on me before the finish. Sheldon has learned a lesson that in college, you have to take these ridiculous classes for no reason. A good episode.

(And as a side note, the professor was chubby nice and cute as hell. In real life, I would get really stoned and sit on her lectures and probably enjoy it; but it still a waste of money. College is a scam. It really is.
