Barbara Pepper, Doris Ziffel I, and Fran Ryan Doris Ziffel II have a rather strange thing in common. In their personal lives the two women were married a total of three times, Pepper once in 1943 to a man named Craig Reynolds and Ryan twice to a Walter Wayne and later to a Howard Schafer. Reynolds died in a motorcycle accident in 1949, Wayne and Ryan wed in 1949 and two years later he was killed in a private plane crash (he was the pilot). In January of 1953 Ryan wed again to Howard Schafer, 5 months later he died in a private plane crash (he was the pilot). How bizarre!

How horrible for those husbands. I only wonder when will people learn NEVER to fly in these tiny match box planes that must be made to crash. So many people (we only hear about all the many stars that have been killed in these death traps) have been killed. I would rather take 10 baths and showers than fly in one of these made to order death planes. (They always say your bathroom is more dangerous than planes, I've never crashed and burned in a shower).

What's tragic about Miss Pepper's case is that after her husband died in that motorcycle accident, it sent her into a deep depression and she became an alcoholic- and she had two small sons who depended on her. However things may have been for them growing up, they DID make sure she had a touching tombstone (not all families have done this- even if they have the means).
