I know there are recurring character's Harry Noll and Deidre's husband- Harry Thompson. But there are plenty of others. Some are seen and some are just mentioned. For instance Harold ( Which could be Harry?) once mentioned his best friend Harry, but was not seen on the show.

I couldn't figure out Harry Noll. Anybody know what his deal was anyway? Was he just badly written or something else?

Harry Noll didn't appear until either late in season 3 or in season 4. The actor who played him played a few other roles in earlier episodes.

The episode I saw him in was from late season 2 and he was credited as Harry Noll in the credits.

Yup, my bad, he was in two season 2 episodes.

I think I've seen him in another color episode, called by a different name--but that's not shown on IMDb. I also think I've seen another actor playing the role.

IMDb does show the actor, Lauren Gilbert, playing a totally different role in a season 1 episode.

There are a lot of references to that first name on the show. George is playing golf with someone named Harry, a judge is named that, etc.

I think the sound of the name Harry is kind of comedic. Does that make sense? I like the sound of the name. I wonder if that's why it was used a lot?

I will add that when Don DeFore made an appearance on My Three Sons, as Steve Douglas' old golfing partner, Don's character was named... Harry Palmer!

I just saw the episode "The Fire's Never Dead, While the Ashes Are Red" (S2Ep24). In the episode they call him "Howard," but in the cast credits, he's Harry Noll.

I'm wondering if Harry could be a nickname for Howard. AI says no, but maybe some show writer thought differently.

I guess anybody can use any nickname if they want to but wouldn't Howie be the nickname for Howard? Harry could be a nickname for Harold or Harrison.
