Does anybody know how the last episode of All In the Family ends? I never saw it. Do they all appear on it?

The final episode of All In The Family before switching to Archie Bunker's Place in 1979 is not part of the Syndication package. I do not understand why? The final was a 2-part of Best of All In The Family in which Norman Lear, producer of All In The Family shows clips of previous episdoes. In 1974, Henry Fonda gave a 2-part episode of Best of All In The Family. Don't know why they don't air the 1979 one. This should come after the episode og Too Good Edith. I have never seen the final Best of All In The Family which aired on CBS in 1979. Can anyone tell us what they showed on this and why can't this episode be found on Syndication and Nick at Nite?

No idea but we should all email them with a similar message and perhaps they'll listen.

The 1979 retrospective was listed in the TV Guide 15 years ago,for a channel that carried ALL IN THE FAMILY, that eventually was the newly FOX network, and the special would require being a three or four-part episode, but, instead, there were episodes from the middle of the sixth season

I've seen the Henry Fonda-hosted retrospective in syndication (can't remember if I've seen it on N@N, though). The 1979 retrospective has a different format, though. It has couples from around the country commenting on the show and their perspective on it. There aren't quite as many clips as in the first retrospective, and it would probably come off as pretty dated today, so maybe that's why it's not in syndication.
This retrospective aired several weeks before the final regular AITF episode, "Too Good Edith," in which Edith prepares an Irish dinner for the bar's St. Patrick's Day celebration, even though she's sick and the doctor has told her to stay off her feet. |

They haven;t showed the final highlight show, but as for the final main episode, Too Good Edith, they showed it during the Carroll O' Conner tribute marathon over the weekend.
