This weekend, Entertainment Tonight is doing a special "Whatever Happened to Your Favorite TV Stars" on two of the celebrities from Leave It To Beaver, Ken Osmond and Jerry Mathers. Jerry talks in depth about his early success, his weight problem that lead to him joining Jenny Craig, as well as the continued popularity of the show and the impact it still holds. Ken Osmond talks about life after the show, including his stint as an Los Angeles cop, and being nearly killed in the line of duty. He also mentions that the 1980's New Leave It To Beaver really helped his financial situation. He also tells us how close the suriving members of the cast are, including how Frank Bank is his stock broker.
This is an approximately five minute piece on the show. They even include some shots from the 1980's show, and some very poor quality images from the original Leave It To Beaver show (not behind-the-scenes shots, just actual images from various epiosdes, like you see on TV Land). It's in the very beginning of the Entertainment Tonight hour-long weekend edition, so watch out for it. Check your local listings for the next airing of weekend ET. It should air tonight again.

Was this a new segment or had it been shown before? I know I've seen Tony Dow and Jerry Mathers on these whatever happened to specials, but I don't remember Ken Osmond.
What they really need to do is a whole hour on LITB. I like the whatever happened to specials, but they should mix them up with some of the hour long shows devoted to 1 tv series. |

I really hope they do a Hollywood Insider or E True Hollywood Story on LITB. I can't seem to get enough of this show. I think it would be great.
I saw the promo with Ken Osmond, but couldn't find when the show was on. And Jerry Mathers was on Channel 11's local news at 5:50 a.m. but i missed that, too. Is he promoting something new like a book or something?

Well, he does have a new book out actually. And i think this was a new show because they mentioned Jerry Mathers was 54, which is his age as of June the 2 I think, and they mentioned Ken osmomd has been married for 32 years, and that's how long he's been married now. But I think they both look and sound much younger that they're age. Oh, and I was so happy Ken Osmond did that "Good evening Mrs. Cleaver, that's a lovely dress your wearing." That must of been one of his favorite quotes, because he laughed pretty hard.

This was a weekend special from Entertainment Tonight. I do not believe this "Whatever Happened to your Favorite TV Stars" was ever aired before. I missed the first part of the Jerry Mathers' interview, but caught the entire Ken Osmond interview. It was at the very beginning of the entire show, which kind of bummed me out. And it was a very short piece as well, probably not even 5 minutes. But they showed some clips from the New Leave It To Beaver, which was cool.
![]() I agree, a whole hour Leave It To Beaver special needs to be done. It's as if the entertainment industry is completely forgetting about this classic show. The actors aren't getting any younger, and we need to get caught up with the actors again. It's been too long. |
