In case any of you missed it, the Oxygen series Killer Siblings recently documented the Agofsky brothers. For those of you who are unfamiliar with them, Shannon and Joe Agofsky abducted and murdered Noel, MO bank president Dan Short in October 1989. After abducting Short, they sent him to his bank in to rob it, after which they killed him by tying him to a chair and throwing him into a river. UM profiled the case in March 1990, five months after the murder.
The Agofsky brothers had been suspected from the beginning, but it took a few years for investigators to substantiate their guilt. Joe Agofsky died in prison in 2013, and Shannon Agofsky is currently on death row for the 2001 murder of an inmate. The Dan Short murder has been featured on multiple true crime shows over the years. Besides UM and Killer Siblings, it has also been documented on Forensic Files, The FBI Files, and Swamp Murders. |

I found this article that was written back in September of this year about the murder. It includes a short video with some behind the scenes footage of the UM re-enactment. It also heavily quotes a women who believes the Agofsky brothers are innocent. Despite the fact that one of them had a fingerprint match found on the duct tape used to bound Dan to the chair. There is also the somewhat humorous postscript at the end of this article, which tries to paint the surviving brother, Shannon as a "good, misunderstood person" saying that he is currently on death row for the murder of another inmate. Some people are extremely gullible.
