when u say nudity, we are talking about being naked, but NOT seeing anything right? it might of been Threes Company... there was 2 episodes i remember in my head.... 1)Janet & Mrs. Roper went to a nude beach and they were running around naked behind a tree and 2) Mr.Furley,Larry,Lana,Jack and some other people played strip poker.

actually, in the show "I Love Lucy" i remember seeing Ricky getting into the shower, but i cant remember if he was ever naked or just took off his shirt.

The episode of "Three's Company" you are referring to is #162, "The Charming Stranger." In the episode, a scene where Jack is wearing short shorts, he sits down in the chair and the part of his shorts on the inside of his legs (the thigh area) gathered enough air when he sat down, to the point where one of the legs on the shorts opened up and a split second exposure of John Ritter's private area took place. An obivously perverted viewer noticed this and reported it. The episode never aired on N@N after that, but TNN aired it on June 4, 2002 at 10:00am (central). The scene was there, scrotum and all.

Yeah, I've heard the big deal about that scene with John. I can't believe someone could even notice something like that unless you were looking point blank at it. Some people are just perverted, some are crazy, some are both.

Actually, I think he may be referring to #08- "Jack Gets a Job". Even though #162 does contain some 'accidental' nudity, it was an accident and wasn't discovered until 16 years after it's broadcast. JGJ showed more of the human body then any other show had because in that, Jack went to a porno studio and didn't really know what was going on. There was a woman in there and she was pretty much nude. I don't know if that's exactly the one that your refering to. I remember reading there was a big fuss over this episode. But as far as full frontal nudity there was never anything of the kind on Three's Company, except for that accident that John Ritter did in #162.

I remember the first time I saw nudity that I had never seen on tv was "the sensitive naked man" on snl.

Back in the 70s the Mclean Stevenson "Hello Larry" had an episode that was about with him hosting a nude beauty contest and he had to be nude too. really funny show !!!

Though not a sitcom , the news magazine 20/20 around the same time ( late 70s ) did a story about a nude beach near San Diego and some of the scenes there featured lots of butts ( but nothing else ) though the piece did cause an uproar.

as far as actual nudity goes I was reading in one of my trivia books that PBS featured a woman topless in a special called "Steambath" back in 1973. Bil Bixby I remember reading was in, plus the late Benny Hill-his show featured some female nudity as well though if often happens so fast you needed a VCR with a freeze frame to see anything.

male nudity besides the butt: HBO's OZ holds that honor.

Interesting that for years ( might still be the case) at the movies a female can be totally nude and a film would be rated "r", maybe "Pg-13". But show a man totaaly nude its an instant "x".
Roger Ebert the film critic brought this up years ago and even he really couldnt understand why either.

That's stupid. It sounds like something from the 1920s or 1930s. It seems like some sort of sexist thing. Like, if nudity is such a big thing to the people who rate movies, why don't all the films be rated "x".

Update:

On Sunday morning's episode of "Father Knows Best," Kathy got dirty in some paint, and Margaret (her mother) was cleaning her off in one of those tin tubs you clean dogs in. Kathy was standing straight up, only wearing underwear. That means for the whole scene, she was topless, and everybody who watched that episode, back in 1955, saw it. I'm guessing that since she wasn't really older, and she wasn't developed yet, it was OK.......boy oh boy, that Lauren Chapin must have been in Embarresed City!

I had a friend years ago who used to run a movie theatre. My girlfriend at the time asked him why is it one can see naked girls all the time in movies ( Porkys, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, ect..were big at the time ) but NEVER a naked man. He says its due to the fact that most guys ( unless they are gay ) feel "uneasy" seeing a naked man on the movie screen beside their wife/girlfriend. Guess its an ego thing or something. It is a double standard.

The first female nudity that I saw on network television was on" "Roots"(1978). The female slaves were shown naked waist up. The reasoning at the time for the censors was that being slaves it would be a natural thing. But absolutely no white nudity. That always sounded very racist to me!
