This year marks the 25th anniversary of quite a few Unsolved Mysteries cases. The dates next to the names are the dates when the disappearances/murders/offenses happened, not when they aired on TV. Let me know if I missed anybody.
Inner City Church (Football player Reggie White's church that was destroyed by arson, January 8, 1996) Kay Fletcher (survived a case of spontaneous human combustion, February 11, 1996) Gary and Ted Noble (brothers who robbed the house of the man they worked for, February 12, 1996) Antonio Moses (gang member who shot a school teacher, February 22, 1996) Alicia Showalter Reynolds (disappeared after driving from Baltimore, MD to Charlottesville, VA to meet her mother and later found dead, March 2, 1996) LeZhan Williams (kidnapped after the murder of his mother, May 17, 1996) Diana Shawcroft and Jennifer Lueth (best friends who disappeared and were later found murdered, May 24, 1996) April Gregory (Syracuse University student who vanished and later found murdered, May 24, 1996) Kristin Smart (Cal Poly college student who vanished after a party, May 25, 1996) Ray Muniz (visited by the "men in black" after receiving a videotape of a UFO incident, June 1996) Damon and Devon Routier (brothers who were supposedly murdered by their mother in their Rowlett, TX home, June 6, 1996) Michael Short (fled with his girlfriend after she helped him escape prison, June 7, 1996) Paul Ragusa (mobster who eluded authorities after a series of robberies and assaults, June 14, 1996) Aimee Willard (lacrosse player who was murdered after driving home from a tavern, June 20, 1996) Margaux Hemingway (actress who allegedly committed suicide, July 1 , 1996) Dolly the Sheep (first mammal cloned from an adult somatic cell, July 5, 1996) Blair Adams (ends up dead in Knoxville, TN after a bizarre series of events, July 11, 1996) Susan Walsh (journalist who disappeared after alleged threats against her life, July 16, 1996) TWA Flight 800 (crashed into the Atlantic Ocean, killing all 230 people onboard, July 17, 1996) Andre Wilson (robbed a store and killed the clerk, July 25, 1996) Centennial Park bombing (1996 Summer Olympic games bombing that left two people dead, July 27, 1996) Norman (yellow Labrador Retriever who rescued a woman from drowning, August 5, 1996) Katherine Korzilius (young girl who was found unconscious after walking home from the mailbox; suspected hit-and-run or attempted kidnapping, August 7, 1996) Lance Guevarra (missing and later found dead, August 13, 1996) Michael Wilburn (escaped from prison, August 15, 1996) Tupac Shakur (American rapper gunned down on a busy street in Las Vegas, September 13, 1996) Ngoc Van Tran (murdered his wife after an argument, September 17, 1996) Jimmy Rae Legate (wanted for statutory rape, September 19, 1996) Luie Quezada (beat and left a Marine for dead at a house party, September 26, 1996) Jesus De La Cruz (disappeared, September 28, 1996) David Alex Alvarez (murdered several people in retaliation against his estranged wife's family, September 29, 1996) Wendy Throop (tragically took her own life after being raped, November 12, 1996) Sandra Orellana (found dead below her hotel room balcony while on a business trip, November 13, 1996) Naoma and Richard Wendorf (couple who were beaten to death by a vampire cult, November 25, 1996) Ceara O'Connell (kidnapped by a US airman as part of a vampire cult, December 19, 1996) JonBenét Ramsey (beauty pageant child found dead in her home on Christmas day, December 25, 1996) Marshall Lee Brown (murdered a man who testified against him in a prior murder case, December 29, 1996) |

I know I am missing several, but I am hesitant to look through "1996" on the Wiki page because that means seeing the one case that scares me the most and I don't want to see that photo. Please post the cases and dates they occurred (not aired) and I will add them to the list.

There's a fairly recent podcast series called Your Own Backyard that revisits the Kristin Smart case. It's pretty good if anyone's into that sort of thing.
Also, Slow Burn did a season on the Tupac/Biggie Smalls rivalry. |
