"The Neighborhood" Should Have Been Shown After Super Bowl 55 Instead

CBS really blew it this time.: No wonder why CBS is becoming a terrible network after the end of The Big Bang Theory and the CBS's Corporation's re-merger with Viacom. Even with my initial aversion to Beth Behrs being cast in it, and its current third season having to be reduced due to production-cost increases associated with COVID-19, The Neighborhood looked like the perfect choice for the Super Bowl LV lead-out slot, especially with it being an owned sitcom and it could potentially give CBS's comedy lineup a boost in the ratings. Instead, CBS just had to choose yet another procedural for that slot instead (the reboot of The Equalizer, starring Queen Latifah). It being a new show isn't going to help matters. I think it's more of the realization that this year's Super Bowl will likely be in a mostly-empty venue because of COVID-19, and television viewership will be way down from last year. So far, CBS has had two procedurals (2007, 2013), three reality shows (2001, 2004, 2010, and 2019), and their Late Show franchise (2016) air after the SB, but never a sitcom like NBC and FOX-TV did. Maybe if CBS is still in the Super Bowl rotation after 2023, they will go with a sitcom, but The Neighborhood will likely be too old for the post-SB slot by then. If The Equalizer winds-up failing in the ratings in its regular slot, CBS clearly wouldn't have learned from the The World's Best fiasco in 2019 after a disastrous Super Bowl LIII.
