Default Who Wants to be a Millionaire Marathon of New Episodes January 6

I found something unusual when checking my listings for Wednesday, January 6. ABC will be airing a marathon of three Millionaire episodes for the entire night. This marathon is not repeats, but a tripleheader of new episodes. Either they are burning it off, or wanted stunt programming to counter FOX with their Name That Tune revival premiere and Masked Dancer timeslot premiere. Millionaire will also be new on its regular night January 3 after the Supermarket Sweep finale. ABC's regular Wednesday lineup returns the following Wednesday with the series premiere of Kyra Sedgwick's new comedy Call Your Mother.

Like Supermarket Sweep Who Wants To Be A Millionaire with Jimmy Kimmel has been also a victim of ABC's overpromotion and from the time that ABC announced the return of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire ABC thought they still had the magic to make it successful like the Regis Philbin version but by sticking celebrities and having Jimmy Kimmel be the new star of Millionaire rather than Chris Harrison or Meredith Veira ruined it. What I think caused ABC to have a revival of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was that they knew that Regis Philbin was in rapidly declining health and was gonna die at any time and so this revival was simply made to give Regis Philbin a final goodbye as shown in the first promotional commercial that featured Regis in his last appearence welcoming Jimmy to the show. And when after Regis died Millionaire's ratings dropped dramatically. The only reason why ABC is doing this marathon of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is:
A. Cancellation rumors,
B. Replacing sitcom reruns
C. Fear of more low ratings
D. ABC hoping to give Millionaire a new image
When you look at the general picture and the bright side I think what caused Millionaire's ratings to go belly up is that just as with any ABC celebrity game show the celebrities always chosen are from ABC sitcoms and soap operas nd a variety of celebrities from different movies and sitcoms would've worked like magic. But for some reason ABC has an obsession with putting their stars from their sitcoms and shows as some kind of marketing tool to promote the celebrities. I think this will go down in the Game Show Hall Of Fame with the title "Weakest Game Show Revival Ever" Because if Regis Philbin was alive right now he would be shocked at how Jimmy Kimmel ruined his game show that made him a star

Hi, Bestie! I blame Kimmel and bits for ruining WWTBAM ratings. He is not funny anymore. He became too political. ABC and him need to learn the lesson that If you alienate a large potential audience, you guarantee low ratings.

Hope that the ABC Millionaire’s Marathon on 1/6 should be better than the Supermarket Sweep marathon

So much for the Millionaire marathon. ABC is preempting all of it tonight for breaking news coverage.

What ABC should do is reschedule the Captain America movie that will be airing Tuesday, January 12 for this Saturday. Then the Millionaire marathon can be rescheduled for that Tuesday. Except they would need to change around the episodes so the conclusion to the Amanda Peet episode would air on its regular Sunday night.

I noticed they had 3 episodes lined up one night. DVRed all 3 but yes breaking news at the capitol preempted them all. My first thought on running all 3 was lack of something to put on the air.
