Question What was the storyline when Julie left the show and got married?

Hi,

I'm trying to remember what the story was when Julie left the show in 1984, because TV Land doesn't show seasons 6 -9 and I was really young when it originally aired. What I remember is that Julie left to get married, and that her husband was her former boyfriend Jack's brother (his name was Wally or William or something?). Is this right? Also, I remember that after she had left the show, she came back as a guest star saying she had divorced her husband. Did this happen or am I dreaming this??
I personally think she should have married Tony from Australia (in the episode Monday) or Jack from Alaska, but it's kind of wierd that in the end she sort of ended up with Doc.

I don't recall that episode. I used to watch the show every week too. Julie had so many boyfriends it's hard to keep them straight. I agree with you about Tony. I think he was the best one for her.

I agree, it would have been best if she'd ended up with Tony

BTW, that episode, "Julie's Wedding", filmed in Australia, is on today/ tomorrow Monday, July 8, Part 1. This is a great episode -to all who've never seen it - she and Tony were just so great together!!!!! Everybody watch it!!!!!!

When Julie left the show, there was no farewell episode (Lauren Tewes was fired in between seasons). At the beginning of the 1984-85 season, it was simply said that Julie had gotten married and had left the crew. I don't believe there was any mention of who she married.

Julie returned as a guest star in the 1985-86 season. I can't remember if they referred to her marital status. When she returned as cruise director for the three specials in the 1986-87 season, it was mentioned that she had gotten a divorce.

Default Julie

In one story Julie wanted to rekindled an earlier romance with a man who lived in Alaska with his young children. When she arrived at his Alaskan home, they talked and he told her he had married someone else two months before. He and the children would always love Julie, but since she turned him down, and it had about a year, he felt he was free to marry the new woman. Can't remember his name but the actor had curly dark hair.

Julie later met Tony, fell in love, and they planned to marry in Australia and live with the animals on some sort of animal reserve. He left Julie at the altar then wrote her a letter explaining he was dying. Sometime later the crew went back to Australia and Julie visited Tony's brother David (a doctor) and the animals. By that time Tony had died and we learned that Julie had been writing to him. David said Julie's letter gave Tony strength.

I also remember the story of Julie getting married (because Lauren Tewes was eliminated from the series) but I can't remember who she married, if it was said.

I've been watching the series on Decades TV and the episode with Julie visiting Tony's brother David was on this past week. I was also baffled by Julie's story, so I can understand how others might be asking too.

The actress who played Julie was fired from the show. In season 8 episode 1 the Claptain told the crew that Julie got married. Vicki confirmed Julie had married Marty Chenault.
