In case you readers haven't heard--and until moments ago, I hadn't--character actor Warren Berlinger recently died last week at age 83. Berlinger, who appeared on MANY TV shows since the early days of TV, died December 2 at age 83 of Cancer, according to his daughter via the New York Times. Born on August 31, 1937 in New York City, New York, Warren was predeceased by his wife, Betty Lou Keim (with whom he had 4 grown children), who passed away in 2010; he also had a famous "Uncle Miltie" in Entertainment as well. Besides character roles, Berlinger also appeared in a London West End Production of "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." He will be greatly missed. Say Hello to your "Uncle Miltie" in the afterlife for me. |

I always thought Warren Berlinger should have had a hit series at some point. He had a distinctive, likable character and style and would have been a good lead for a sitcom. He played plenty of character parts but being frantic or a villain wasn't what he did best. I remember him best as the easy-going Kilroy in a four or five part series of episodes for The Wonderful World of Disney in the mid 60s. I've wanted to see that again ever since I saw it that long ago. He was worthy of a hit show and being the focus of a series. A talented and likable actor. RIP.

Among the many roles Warren Berlinger played was disc jockey Charlie the Prince on Happy Days. He was also a regular on the short-lived comedy-variety series The Funny Side.
