CBS 1982-83 Schedule Remake (Great Moments)

Trying to give WKRP a 5th and final season. wKRrP tended to do best when on Mondays. Bump up Goodnight Beantown to Fall. Pair Square Pegs/Private Benjamin to Wednesdays against Tales of the Gold Monkey and Real People. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers shouldn't be against another period adventure like Gold Monkey. Bumped to midseason.

Uh, as good of an idea to retain WKRP in Cincinnati, House Calls, and Lou Grant for 1982-83, I have just one teeny-tiny problem... WHERE THE F*%& IS NEWHART?!?!

Just tell me where Newhart would fit on this fantasy schedule of yours? Newhart was a freshman in 82-83, airing in the timeslot following M*A*S*H, and finished the season with an average 20.0 rating. What are your options? Bump Newhart to midseason? Send Newhart to another network?

Disney on Sundays would never work on CBS. Disney's Sunday ratings were fading fast during its final years of tbe original NBC era. 60 Minutes was killing it.

I’m sorry but except for WKRP, 60 Minutes and Lou Grant, that list was absolutely dreck. Yes, Dallas and Knotts Landing was dreck.

I was born in 1967 and never ever watched The Wonderful World of Disney. My father was a hardcore 60 Minutes devotee and never ever missed a show and would have it taped if he just couldn’t be home. He would even get angry and complain like a petulant child if football overran his precious show.

But we were also devotees of Hee Haw, and even as a kid, 60 Minutes was entertaining. Oddly the voice of Morley Safer always conjures up smells of pot roast, because this is what we watched for Sunday dinner.
