Here it comes your favorite episode the one with the obnoxious Mrs. Murdock. They really cut out the whole first scene.
I know how much you hate this episode. Me too!! |

And yes that Mrs. Murdock was such a high strung drama queen. Worrying Ward & June, telling them she’s never forgive herself if Beaver got killed. LOL, she makes Mrs. Mondello look like the voice of calmness! Just curious: why do you hate this episode? I kinda liked it; but honestly haven’t come across a LITB ep I haven’t liked or loved. And that’s a real tribute to the show. Even my beloved 50s show, The Adv. of Ozzie and Harriet had a couple of eps that made me go P.U. ( mostly the Tiger eps). But the good eps on O & H, were just out of this world! Esp. “Wally’s Traffic Ticket”. |

Well let's just say it's not my favorite.
Drama queen is a perfect description for Mrs. Murdock. As for Marjorie Reynolds, over-acting or emoting would be her description. I remember they cut the first scene. I think it has to do with Ward and June talking about going over to see some friends' new baby. Scrabjan, help! I'll say they did give Chuckie some pretty funny lines. He was going to scream at virtually anything. Also those "It's OK" responses to the shoes, then "I don't like 'em" was pretty funny. |

Thanks for clueing me in! It’s annoying when scenes get cut. I caught this in “The Fraternity Rents A Room”—a classic ep of O & H. LOL between my 6 copies of this from my various DVD sets, I noticed this. Eps running 21 minutes from a 50s show usually mean something got axed besides the commercials. This often happens with the cheaper more poorly put-together sets. That Chuckie was a Class A Brat and little manipulator. I bet he didn’t pull too much of that with Mrs. Murdock, she’d probably smack him or give him a dose of what real drama/manipulation is. What’s interesting in this ep is how Wally, usually the paragon of good behavior and responsibility, really f#’s up! I mean, what was he thinking, pawning off a responsibility of this size to Beaver? Also shocked Ward didn’t come down hard on him. I think Wally should have been grounded for two weeks and lose one week’s worth of allowance. Just my opinion, of course. |

Wally really wanted to go with Eddie, and he really misjudged Beaver's ability to do the job. Wally would have known to keep an eye on the kid at all times.
They wrote some funny material for Chuckie. Check out the later Beaver's Frogs episode, where Beaver explains the facts of frog life to Chuckie. Then in the next season they screw up in the not-so- memorable Beaver babysitting episode--Chuckie appears to not know Beaver at all. |

Chuckie's New Shoes would be a good episode if Chuckie and his mom weren't in it.
I do like the sales man who helps Beaver, I think for me he was the highlight of the episode. |

What did Chuckie do to his shoes that he suddenly wouldn't have any to wear on Monday? Maybe the mom should be more organized with her kid's footwear. |

I should say, even though there are episodes that are on the bottom of my list, I still watch all of them, and even ones like Chuckie's New Shoes or Beaver The Bunny or Three Boys And A Burro, I still find good things about them and never find them boring.

There's not a Beaver episode I WON'T watch, and that's rare for me, for any sitcom. There are Lucy episodes I won't watch (like the Scotland episode and the bratty kid) and the Brady Bunch (Kelly's Kids). All those bratty kid episodes are the same script recycled.
Yes, the salesman--another great performance by Jess Kirkpatrick, who had a couple of other roles. Oh, little boy! (They should have checked under the chairs!) As I said this is one of my least favorite episodes, along with Beaver the Babysitter, and the Bunny. |

Oh yeah, he plays the garbage man! And Eddie's boss in the episode where Eddie is working at the pet store.

Yep, he plays the garbage man twice, once in the teddy bear episode, and later when Pete and Chris, his sons, visit the Cleavers.
