Beaver writes an ad for his AKR sports car (Honda?) for Ward to put in the paper. He mentions their telephone number and says ask for my father who is selling it for his own good. Ward comes home and tells June he sold the car and must have gotten 40 calls today. I thought they were calling their home. I know Ward changed the contact number to his work. Wonder if he got more than $3500 for it. That must have taken up his whole day.

Whatever that phone number Beaver wrote was, and it started Whitney, it wasn't the number they normally had, which I think is KLondike 5-4763.

And poor Beav was initially so upset when Ward wouldn’t let him keep it. But level-headed Wally talked sense into him, and of course, selling the car was a good decision.

Good observation Stevea. I didn’t know if that number was the same one mentioned in Long Distance Call.

I think Long Distance Call was KL5-4763.

Agreed. No doubt though, at Beaver's age and if I won something like that I initially would have wanted to keep it too.

I'd like to think Ward and June could have handled it better, but there wasn't much they could have done to soften the blow.
They possibly could have checked the prizes in advance, and warned him about it. |

Very true. What you suggested would have been a great way to handle this.

I’m surprised the hospital charity association didn’t make sure the winner of the sports car was a licensed driver and over 21. If this episode came before Wally’s Glamour Girl when Wally writes to Kitty about his possessions, he could have mentioned the sports car that Beaver won.
