'Beaver and Ivanoe'

Just something I noticed that I never have before. In the beginning part of the episode; the classroom scene. The boy whose desk is right behind Beaver is the same kid who played 'Chris': the younger of the two friends Beaver made when the sons of the sanitation truck driver came to visit the Cleaver home in 'The Grass is Greener'.

He just sits there with that stony-faced catatonic silence that screams "classroom extra". Funny how Beaver could be so standoffish to a friend he's known for 2 years.

Wow, never noticed that before. Of course, the extras with no lines are never credited (if they were, the credits would be way too long), and even if they were, I still don't know what actor he was, from the original episode.

In even older shows like Father Knows Best, sometimes even actors with only a few lines aren't credited.

I never noticed either. Of course Pete Fletcher was rather famous being a Chapin and in Night of the Hunter. That boy, Don Lyon, who played Chris wasn’t famous. That part was his biggest role. He might have been an extra in other episodes.

In Beaver’s IQ when he’s taking the test, the girl over his left shoulder with glasses was probably so bored with takes she goes from using her left hand to her right in wide and tight shots. She also leaves the room coming down one aisle then all of a sudden she is behind Beaver and Whitey back in the room.

Yeah, the shots sometimes don't match. I don't remember which episode, but the other day the backgrounds between shots were way off. Wonder if that's the film editor's job to match that stuff up. I imagine it's some post-production job.
