CHCH Bewitched Marathon - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

As a preview for Halloween, CHCH is offering an early treat. This weekend, between 1 and 3 pm, they will be showing the first 8 episodes of "Bewitched" in color. The lineup will look like this:

Today

1:00 pm "I, Darrin, Take This Witch, Samantha"
1:30 "Be It Ever So Mortgaged"
2:00 "Mother Meets What's His Name"
2:30 "It Shouldn't Happen To A Dog"

Tomorrow

1:00 pm "Help! Help! Don't Save Me"
1:30 "Little Pitchers Have Big Fears"
2:00 "The Witches Are Out"
2:30 "The Girl Reporter"

Just before Christmas last year, I remember reading a quote from CHCH's programming director about having the station do more with their retro shows like having marathons like this and possibly expanding them into the weekend when they would normally show old movies. I'm hoping this is a sign of things to come.

Halloween is 2 weeks from today. They might have another surprise planned for then. I'll let you know if anything happens.

I was wrong. There is nothing special planned for Halloween but November is when the real treats arrive. According to CHCH's new fall media kit, two new retro series will arrive to complete their fall lineup: "The Odd Couple" will debut on November 16 at 3 pm to replace "Good Times" and "Get Smart" will replace "The Facts Of Life" on November 13 at 4:30 pm. I consider both shows to be major upgrades over the previous ones and I'll be looking forward to seeing them again in about a month from today.

Bewitched is scheduled to air on CHCH this weekend and next weekend too.

My cable provider has Bewitched listed for Sunday this week, from 1:30pm to 3 pm, while TV Passport has the show scheduled on Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 3pm both this week and next week.

Cable provider lists a movie airing this Saturday and Sunday, starting at 1pm. Saturday's movie is two hours and Sunday's is half an hour. On TV Passport the movie is listed on Saturday but at 1:30pm Bewitched is listed.

So it's wait and see. Maybe Bewitched will air this weekend, maybe it won't.

I hope it airs. It's the one show I was hoping would return to the CHCH schedule this fall.

I think it all depends on how long the movies are. If one of them runs a little long, you could see the marathon begin at 1:30 instead of 1:00 pm. For now, it looks like it's good to go for both this weekend and next which is good because until yesterday they only had movies listed. It will be interesting to see what happens on the weekend of Nov. 7-8 when Halloween is long over. Hopefully, it will continue but you never know. If it does, it's a great move! If not, we could see more marathons and special episodes of other series around Christmas time. I'll let you know what happens on here.

This weekend, the schedule makers tampered with the CHCH lineup but I can tell you with certainty that "Bewitched" was on the air this weekend and will continue every Saturday and Sunday from 1-3 pm (4 episodes each day) until at least Christmas when it might get interrupted for special Christmas programming. But for now and for the next 2 months, it's all set, no matter what your TV guides may tell you.
